Introducing the Scherzo theme for WordPress

Scherzo is a simple, legible WordPress theme that lets your content breathe. It boasts a responsive design, is easy to modify and has sidebars that can be changed across different page types.

Feel free to modify or use for any purpose, but please keep the footer link to my website in tact. This theme is released under the terms of the GPL license.

Installation

Install in the normal way, i.e. extract the scherzo.zip file and upload it to your themes folder. Login to your dashboard and select the theme from the Appearance menu.

Responsive layout

Scherzo will scale to fit any screen width. This means you can view the theme on mobile devices without installing any plugins. To see how it works either view the live demo on a mobile phone or shrink your browser window.

Known issues

Child themes

If you create a child theme of Scherzo Internet Explorer 8 and below will display the wide screen layout even on desktop monitors. Workaround would be to copy and paste the @media queries from the parent theme into your child theme’s style.css file.

Please note that this problem doesn’t affect the Scherzo theme itself, nor modern desktop browsers (IE9, Opera, Chrome, Safari and Firefox).
